Status - Enfuce

This topic explains the different states of a card and its versions. The operational state of a card depends on both the card status and the version status.

Card Status

The card status (cardStatus) determines the state of the card by its ID (cardId). Each card has a unique identifier; the cardStatus defines the overall state of the card.

Status	Description
`ACTIVE`	The card is operational and can be used for payments.
`BLOCKED`	The card cannot be currently used, but can be changed to `ACTIVE` state.
`BLOCKED_SUSPECTED_FRAUD`	The card is blocked for suspected fraudulent activity.
`CLOSED`	The card is permanently deactivated and it cannot be changed to `ACTIVE` status.
`CLOSED_DUE_TO_FRAUD`	The card is permanently deactivated due to fraudulent activity.
`CLOSED_LOST`	The card is permanently deactivated due to being reported lost.
`CLOSED_STOLEN`	The card is permanently deactivated due to being reported stolen.
`CLOSED_EXPIRED`	The card can no longer be used as its validity period has ended and was not renewed before expiry.

Card Version Status

A card can have multiple versions, like a new version is created before the current version expires or when a plastic card is worn out/damaged, a new version is reissued. The status of each version is indicated by cardVersionsStatus.

Status	Description
`INITIAL`	The specific card version is awaiting activation. During this state, the card can have limited usage, such as being added to a digital wallet or cardholder can view the PIN (if it is a plastic card). However, in the `INITIAL` state, the card cannot be used for payments. Every card (plastic/virtual) is created in the `INITIAL` status, by default. To change the state to `ACTIVE`, send a request to the Activate Card Endpoint. When a card version status is `INITIAL`, the virtual card is also not eligible for payments, as a new version might be created when it has to be renewed, reissued, or replaced, impacting the PAN/expiry date/CVV number. If the card is sent to the manufacturer for embossing, it does not change its status to `ACTIVE`.
`ACTIVE`	The card is completely operational. You can perform all actions with the card.
`CLOSED`	The previous versions of the card are no longer valid as a new version is activated or the card is closed.

When you renew or reissue a card, a new version is created. However, when you replace a card, a new entity is created; replacement does not create a new version.
